AKC Labrador Retrievers, French Bulldogs & Poodles
About Us
I have been involved with dogs my entire adult life. After college, back in the '70's, I managed a boarding kennel, and I started showing the owners German Shepherd Dogs in obedience. Having always been in love with Labrador Retrievers, I purchased a lovely foundation bitch from Doris Aylward, Naiad kennels. In my first litter I kept a black male and a yellow female. Both finished easily, the male, Am Can Ch Nyleve’s Charlie, CD, was a multiple speciality winner and group winner both in the states and in Canada. Nickel continued to produce lovely typy puppies, and over the years, lots of years, I finished quite a few champions and obedience titled dogs. I earned the reputation of producing calm, low key labs, and continue today to breed labs on a much smaller scale.
French Bulldogs came along in the early '80's. While I still love the breed and have 3 Champion stud dogs, I no longer actively breed Frenchies.
As I got older and maybe wiser, I decided the lab was a bit too big for my enjoyment. With much research and admittedly, a little fear, I purchased a female miniature poodle. By now I owned a boarding kennel and was the groomer there, so the grooming part didn’t scare me. Nyleve’s No Regrets, CD, RN, CGC, Jenny for short, turned out to be just what the doctor ordered! She was really bright, sensible, and just the right size to do the things I wanted to do with a dog. Soon a male mini joined the family, followed by a toy female. Jenny produced her first litter, and my first homebred mini just finished her championship with back to back majors and BOV’s and a Group 3, at under a year of age.
My philosophy on breeding is to produce an healthy, loving pet first and foremost. All dogs receive all appropriate health testing prior to breeding, and all breeding dogs have proper temperaments and conformation.
